Full Body Detox – 10 Steps To Cleanse Your Body (Effective)

Detox, or full body detox, means getting rid of toxic stuff and substances from your body, and has become all the rage as of recent years, with new methods and products popping up on the regular.

Is it worth it though, to detox, or, to “do” a detox?

I would say usually yes, if you have the inclination and will power for it.

But it also depends on the detox in question, of course.

Time To Detox

Why Would You Need To Detox

Well, as touched on, you want to detox if you have built-up toxins in your body, which can be true with many a people today unless you’re eating very healthily and perhaps organic (and sometimes even then).

These toxins build up because our food and environments today are filled with them, including heavy metals, pesticides, microplastics, metabolic toxins, and so on, and because we’re not giving our bodies what they need to actively detox and stay clean from these.

And because this type of detox can be so linked to your overall health, you’ll want to detox in order to feel and function better and to get and then stay healthier.

10 Effective Ways To Detox Your Body Fully

Green detox foods and drink

The way to detox can be pretty straightforward since it’s again so tied to your overall health, and although you may have heard of various detox products that’ll do this or that, the truth is that these can work and help, but aren’t among the main or most effective tools in the toolbox, especially not on their own.

Which brings us to the powerful detox method of:

1. Eating clean and healthy

Eating Healthy

This would be the main detox method simply because it’ll be a double-whammy of preventing toxin intake while providing much-needed nutrients so that your body’s natural detox methods can function properly.

For how to properly eat healthy, check out this article.

2. Get good sleep

A lot of your body’s detox and recuperation happens while you’re asleep, meaning this is an area you want to prioritize in order to greatly increase your temporary or long-term body detoxification.

To optimize your sleep, read this.

3. Fast

Fasting

Fasting is a little less-known method for when it comes to detoxification, but an immensely powerful one at that.

As with the two above, it ties in with just health optimization in general and includes both intermittent and extended fasting.

When fasted your body’s is sort of resting and can go to work hard at decreasing your body’s toxin load and harmful stuff built up in your fat cells.

4. Exercise

Exercise is bound to help your detoxing efforts out a lot, so add that to the already large number of reasons to get moving more.

It can help you with circulation, your lymphatic system and so much more.

However, keep it functional and ideally, break a sweat, since toxins can be removed through your skin, too.

5. Avoid toxins

It should come as no surprise to you that avoiding excessive toxins in the first place is a great tool in detox, both proactively and actively.

This includes limiting intake of foods too high in toxins, but also working on the water you drink, air you breathe and hygienic products you use (will be recommending some in the future).

Organic foods may be worthwhile in this, too, and perhaps grass-finished meat.

6. Do earthing

Earthing is a topic given far too little attention in the health sphere, and for both good and bad reason.

From my personal experience and research, this can really get the detox going, especially of heavy metals, just make sure you do it right, more on this in an upcoming article.

Anecdotally I detoxed a lot of heavy metals this way.

7. Drink more liquids

Water

Drinking more liquids in general can greatly help you detox.

Water and coffee or tea with caffeine as a diuretic work well.

Just try to limit your juice intake because of excessive and concentrated sugar and stick to the actual fruits instead.

8. Reduce stress

Similar to when we sleep, your detox systems and body in general may work more efficiently when not overly stressed, so do take measures to keep this at low levels when possible.

9. Do Sauna

Sauna

Sauna can be a great way to sweat a lot, improving your detox endeavours of removing toxins through your skin.

Combine it with a gym session or find a place just for sauna if you feel that’s a better fit, or invest in an at home sauna.

10. Use detox products

Again, as a complement to these other detox methods, good detox products can definitely have their place.

If nothing else they can help you detox a little faster.

As of right now I’m not recommending any in particular, but will in the near future.

Honorable mentions

Shower

And as a few honorable mentions, we have hot and cold showers, colon cleansing and laxatives, liver cleanses, LLLT, dry fasting.

Juice Fasts And Juice Cleanses

Fruit juices

Just a quick note on juice fasts.. They can work and sound great, but as touched on above they bring you way too much sugar and aren’t as warranted as say, a pure water fast is.

So, stick to the other powerful ways to detox as mentioned above, rather.

Detoxing For Weight Loss

Feet on scale losing weight

When it comes to weight loss per se, I’d say detox shouldn’t be your main method.

Some of the detox tips above though will help with that greatly, and that’s especially the dietary one.

But for consistent weight loss that stays off, don’t look to detox when there are better alternatives.

Conclusion

To conclude, detox can be a great way to up your health a level or three, although for maximum effects a focus on your health overall comes pretty far.

So, get clean!
