As you may or may not already know, avoiding inflammatory seed and vegetable oils is a key part of eating a healthy diet and optimizing your health in general in order to feel better and stay disease-free.
And if you wanna know why that is, you should really have a look at my longer article on the topic, How And WHY To Avoid Seed And Vegetable Oils: Bad And TOXIC, which will explain it all in much more detail.

But, either way, you want to avoid these omega-6-rich seed and vegetable oils because, as the title implies, they’re highly inflammatory (on top of being very chronic disease-promoting as well).
“Yes, seed and vegetable oils are inflammatory and really bad for your health.”
So, before listing all of the more common and worst offender oils for you to avoid in the name of your health, let’s have just a quick look at why they’re so proinflammatory.

Inflammatory Oils – How Come They’re This Bad Inflammation-wise?
The main reason these seed and vegetable oils are so inflammatory is due to their high polyunsaturated fat content, most often omega-6.
These fats are highly unstable and oxidize easily, both inside and outside the body, becoming rancid and resulting in more free radicals, and more oxidative stress.

These omega-6 fatty acids are then incorporated to a much too high degree (when we have a lot of these oils in our diet) into our cell membranes, disrupting normal cell membrane function and causing mitochondrial dysfunction.
All this oxidation, excessive proinflammatory omega-6 linoleic acid and general disruption in the body lead to a lot of chronic inflammation in the long run, which is likely the main reason they’re so obesity- and chronic disease-promoting.
But again, read the article on why and how to avoid them for sources and much more on this, so you can grasp the whole picture of their effects on your health, because again it’s about more than just inflammation (even if this is definitely one of, if not the, main thing).
“These oils are simply too unstable and contain too much omega-6 or polyunsaturated fats, making them a nightmare for your overall health.”
And now, as promised:
List Of Seed Oils To Avoid For Your Health

Start reading the ingredients labels and avoid all of these specific inflammatory seed and vegetable oils:
- Soybean oil
- Canola or rapeseed oil
- Cottonseed oil
- Corn oil
- Sunflower oil
- Safflower oil
- Rice bran oil
- Grapeseed oil
- Sesame oil
- Peanut oil
- Castor oil
- Walnut oil
- Lin/flaxseed oil
- Hempseed oil
The first 8 ones are the most common ones and thus in a way the worst offenders among them (but they’re all bad).
They’re especially bad when heated or used in cooking, but again, they’re all bad enough either way.
“Avoid, avoid, avoid.”
And to help you out in avoiding these, here’s what you can (should) use instead:
Healthy Fats And Seed Oil Substitutes
The best fats to use instead and to replace your unhealthy seed and vegetable oils with (the best substitutes), that are much lower in omega-6, include (click the links for good and affordable product options, some of them organic):

- Coconut oil
- Real butter
- Ghee
- Tallow
- Lard (even better if grass-fed)
- Duck fat
- Olive oil
- Avocado oil
- Palm oil
- MCT oil

All of these are really healthy in comparison, and thus even considered superfoods in my book because of the large discrepance.
“Use one of these much healthier fats instead.”
So, eat more of these!
It can also be helpful for you to know which specific foods that the unhealthy seed and veg oils are often in, read this article for that :).
And with that, get healthier, and, adios!
